Automotive Collision Repair Student Working on Front End of Car in Denver, CO

Automotive Collision Repair involves repairing and restoring the bodies of vehicles of all types, including metal work, welding and painting. Automotive Collision Repair technicians also do custom body work – designing and modifying old and new vehicles.

Our program will give you hands-on experience in our state-of-the-art facility.

By applying to this program, you understand the Academic Preparedness and Physical Requirements below.

Academic Preparedness:

  • English language proficiency (reading, writing, speaking, and listening).
  • Understanding of basic algebra.
  • Ability to focus on safety around moving equipment, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment. 
  • Perform movements including, but not limited to bending, stretching, twisting, squatting, kneeling and reaching.
  • Capable of sustained activity for 5 hours at a time. 
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Be able to quickly identify and solve problems.
  • Tolerate some chemicals and strong odors. 
  • Use eyes, hands, fingers, arms, and legs in a coordinated manner. 
  • Relative stability of arms and hands.
  • Maintain spatial acuity.
  • Tolerate a variety of temperature ranges that may include very hot, or very cold temperatures. 
  • Wear PPE equipment, such as coveralls, safety glasses or goggles, and gloves. 
  • Wear hearing protection, should the noise levels necessitate the use. 
  • Wear protective masks to guard against potentially harmful contaminants, such as paint fumes and solvents. 
  • Work in cramped areas that may require awkward positioning, such as the interior of a vehicle. 
  • Communicate effectively with instructor(s), classmates, and clients.

  • There is a Mandatory Orientation for this program. 
  • The program is delivered at a quick pace, without breaks between classes. The program is technically intense at times. A firm grasp of computer knowledge is required.
    • Basic computer skills, including file management in a Windows operating system, are necessary for successful completion of coursework.
    • Keyboarding skills are necessary for successful completion of coursework.
  • The program is delivered in a hybrid format. Meaning some of your instruction, class time, and coursework will be completed at home and some will be done in the classroom.
    • Students are expected to be in a learning environment doing coursework for the duration of class time. Students are not allowed to work during scheduled class hours.
    • Your instructor will inform you of your on-site class hours and provide you with your virtual Google Meet link a week before class starts.
  • Due to the delivery, this program will require computer use and internet access. If you need assistance obtaining technology, please contact student.success@emilygriffith.edu.
  • Assignments completed virtually will be done using our learning system, Moodle. You will not be able to access Moodle until you have paid for your classes.

  • Be prepared to purchase supplies such as:
    • Boots (steel toe not required)
    • Leather work gloves
    • Jeans or canvas pants (no holes)
    • T-shirt or work shirt
    • Z87-approved Safety glasses
    • Air purifying respirator. Purchase at any paint store or auto parts store, or online at www.AutoBodyToolmart.com or www.Eastwood.com
    • Pen/pencil

You must follow all school policies for in-person and virtual learning at all times.

The Code of Conduct and other program policies will be reviewed in class.

The Student Success Center provides you access to services such as tutoring, disability support services, health and wellness resources, and classroom support.

  • You are not allowed to miss more than 30% of the course hours; if you miss more than 10% of the course hours a referral will be made to your Student Success Coordinator.
    • This resets at each course throughout the program and this includes arriving late and leaving early
    • Tradiness for over 30 minutes without notification may result in being sent home
    • Multiple absences or tardies will result in a failing grade and removal from the program
  • Missed hours cannot be made-up. You will need to re-enroll in a future cohort.
    • Enrollment in future cohorts is dependent on pending space and availability.
  • Student IDs must be worn at all times while on school property and during any off-campus school activities.
  • Pants must be worn at the waist (no sagging pants).
  • Sunglasses are not to be worn during school hours, unless outside.
  • Odors from smoke, excessive perspiration, perfume, or other sources are not acceptable and will not be tolerated. Odors can be disruptive and even cause physical symptoms to clients and other students.
  • Students not following the dress code will be asked to change or leave. Being asked to leave will count as missed time.
