GED Classes

GED Classes at EGTC Emily Griffith Technical College GED® preparation classes are appropriate for individuals who wish to learn or refresh the knowledge and skills necessary to successfully take the GED® test. During the 2017-2018 school year, we will be offering general GED® preparation classes, as well as contextualized GED® preparation class which will allow students to study for their GED® through the lense of the healthcare industry. Come to an Orientation to learn more about the different class options.

Classes are:

  • offered continuously throughout the year, with monthly start dates from August through May
  • instructor supported
  • instructor led, rather than computer-based
  • offered with a variety of instructional methods including discussion, projects, and engaging group activities

Orientation

It is recommended that all prospective students attend an orientation prior to enrolling in GED® preparation classes. Information about classes, the enrollment process, financial assistance, and the GED test is covered in orientation.

Students who would like to register for classes following orientation, should plan to stay on campus for approximately three hours to complete the enrollment process which includes an assessment test to determine placement in the appropriate class(es).

If a student has already applied to be a student at EGTC and/or has taken a TABE assessment in the last year, please bring that information to orientation.

GED®/Adult Basic Skills Preparation Attendance Policy

Students registered in GED®/Adult Basic Skills Preparation are held to a three absence maximum attendance policy per 45-hour block of instruction. Any student who misses the equivalent of three class sessions within a 45-hour block of instruction will be dropped from the course for non-participation without refund. Partial and full absences will be used to calculate the equivalent of three class sessions.

From our students...

I saw the lower tuition, the small class sizes and the hands on training.  It keeps my interest and working as a team helps my communication skills too.

From our teachers...

We place nearly 100% of our students who complete these programs. We have very good job contacts in these programs, with a lot of community support, which makes these very successful programs.
